Kelly Lynn Daniels
<Summer 2015>
Kelly Lynn Daniels is a ceramic artist and potter living in New Bedford, MA. A native of California, she moved in 2013 for graduate studies in ceramics at University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. Kelly was a professional potter for ten years before returning to California State University at Chico where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics. She has exhibited her work in a number of shows and has work in many private collections. Kelly has received numerous scholarships, fellowships and assistantships for her studies, which have included opportunities to work with notable artists such as Kathy King, Tip Toland, Heather Mae Erickson and Richard Burkett, to name a few.
Kelly has experience teaching hand building, wheel throwing and slip casting and has a great passion for the ceramic surface, employing techniques such as silk screen transfers, paper stencils, shellac resists and photographic applications using printmaking and decals. She is enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge and hopes to ignite the same excitement in her students while building a lifelong love for clay.
“I am honored to be Arch’s new summer resident. This summer is pivotal as I will be exploring ideas for my graduate thesis exhibition in Spring 2016 at UMass Dartmouth. I am very excited by the opportunity to interact with the local community and find inspiration in the flora and fauna in the environment surrounding the studio. I can’t wait to meet everyone so please feel welcome to step into my studio and say hello!”
When Kelly isn’t working in clay she can be found playing with her cats, strolling along the beach, or knee deep in her vegetable and flower garden. For more information visit:
