Wheel-thrown and altered porcelain vessel divided into four sections designed to be used for kitchen utensils or flowers and decorated with inlaid (mishima) and hand-painted birds on a branch.
Mishima a traditional surface design technique achieved by incising or carving fine lines into leather-hard clay then inlaying a slip (liquid clay) of a contrasting color into the lines. The excess slip is then removed to reveal a drawing inlaid into the clay.
